How TextCompare keeps tool content on your device and handles the limited technical and contact information involved in operating the site.

TextCompare is independently operated by an individual based in the United States. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the site or contact the project.
Text, code, files, images, and comparison results are processed in your browser and are never sent to an application server. TextCompare has no accounts, cloud storage, payment system, or advertising. Google Analytics measures visits and interactions with the public site; it does not receive the text, code, files, images, or results processed inside the tools.
Cloudflare may process ordinary request and security information to deliver the static site. If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include so that we can reply.
Your browser downloads the site's HTML, CSS, JavaScript, fonts, and images. JavaScript, Web Workers, and browser APIs then perform comparison, parsing, formatting, similarity scoring, merging, and export on your device.
The content you paste, type, or open, and the results generated from it, are not uploaded to us, stored in an application database, sold, or used to train models. You retain all rights to that content.
TextCompare uses localStorage to remember small preferences such as theme,
comparison options, view mode, and granularity. This data stays in your
browser until you clear the site's local data.
When the home page sends detected JSON, XML, or SQL to a dedicated tool, the
two inputs are kept temporarily in this tab's sessionStorage. They are not
put in the URL, are removed when the destination reads them, and expire after
60 seconds.
Cloudflare hosts, delivers, and protects the static site. To provide those services, Cloudflare may automatically process technical information such as IP address, request time, browser type, requested path, and security events. This infrastructure data does not include the content inside the comparison tools because that content is never sent in a request.
Cloudflare handles its infrastructure records under its own privacy and retention practices. We use the service to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot availability or security problems.
If you send email to contact@compare-text.org, we and the email service
provider receive the information you voluntarily send. This can include your
email address, name if supplied, message, and any attachment you choose to add.
Do not send confidential source text or files.
We use contact messages only to reply, investigate feedback or abuse, maintain reasonable records, and comply with legal obligations. We do not connect them to content processed in the browser tools.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Limited information may be handled by Cloudflare, Google Analytics, and the email service provider for the purposes described above, or disclosed when required by applicable law, a valid legal process, or protection of the service and its users.
Contact messages are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to answer the message, handle the issue, maintain an appropriate record, or meet a legal requirement, and are then deleted. Browser storage remains under your control. Infrastructure providers manage their own operational logs under their published practices.
TextCompare uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, traffic sources, approximate location, browser and device characteristics, page views, and interactions with the public site. Google Analytics receives this measurement data when a page loads, but it does not receive the private content entered or opened inside the browser-only tools.
Google Analytics uses first-party cookies such as _ga and
_ga_<container-id> to distinguish browsers and sessions. These cookies use a
default expiration of two years, which may be refreshed by later visits. The
site does not currently display advertising, and we do not sell analytics data
or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Google processes analytics
information under its own Privacy Policy
and retention settings.
Browser Do Not Track (DNT) and Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals do not automatically disable Google Analytics on this site. The operator does not use Google Analytics to sell personal information or for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can block or clear Analytics cookies with browser controls, privacy extensions, or Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.
TextCompare is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a child sent personal information by email, we will delete it when reasonably possible.
You can clear local preferences through your browser's site-data controls. We cannot access, restore, export, or delete tool content that never left your device.
You can also clear or block the Google Analytics cookies described above. This may cause a later visit to be counted as a new browser or session, but it does not prevent the core comparison tools from working.
To ask about or request deletion of contact information that you voluntarily sent and that we still hold, email contact@compare-text.org. Rights vary by location, and we will respond as required by applicable law.
The site is operated from the United States. Cloudflare, Google, and the email service provider may process technical, analytics, or contact information in the United States and other locations where they operate.
If the site's data practices change, we will revise this policy and its date before or when the change takes effect. We will not silently change the core tools from local processing to server upload.
