Terms for using TextCompare's free browser-based comparison, formatting, and inspection tools.

TextCompare is independently operated by an individual based in the United States. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the site.
By accessing or using TextCompare, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
TextCompare provides free tools for comparing and inspecting text, files, data formats, source code, lists, and images, together with formatting, validation, similarity, merge, and export features.
The service currently requires no account, registration, or payment. Core processing happens locally in your browser; TextCompare does not receive the content placed in the tools.
You retain all rights to text, code, files, images, and other material you use with the tools. We claim no ownership or license to tool content that never reaches us.
You are responsible for having the right to process the material and for meeting any confidentiality, contractual, intellectual-property, or legal obligations that apply to it.

Comparison, extraction, formatting, validation, similarity, merge, and export results are generated automatically and may contain errors or omissions.
PDF reading order can differ from visual layout; scanned PDFs may have no extractable text. Word and spreadsheet tools do not compare every layout, macro, chart, comment, or formatting detail. Validators and formatters may not cover every dialect or edge case. Options such as ignoring whitespace or sorting lines intentionally change the comparison input.
Do not rely on the tools as the only basis for legal, financial, contractual, academic, compliance, production, or other consequential decisions. Verify important results against the original material.
Except for user content and third-party open-source components, the site's original interface, text, branding, and code are owned by the operator or the relevant licensors and are protected by applicable law. These Terms do not grant permission to use TextCompare branding or to imply sponsorship.
Open-source components remain governed by their respective licenses.
Cloudflare provides hosting, delivery, and security infrastructure. Google Analytics measures visits and public-site interactions. Email and other third-party services or links are governed by their providers' terms and policies. TextCompare is not responsible for third-party content, availability, or conduct. Analytics data practices are described in the Privacy and Cookie policies.
The service is free. Features may be added, changed, suspended, or discontinued to maintain, secure, or improve the project. No particular feature or level of availability is guaranteed.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TextCompare is provided "as is" and "as available," without express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the site will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that its output will be complete or suitable for your purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so those exclusions apply only to the extent permitted by law.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, business, or opportunity, arising from use of or inability to use the service or reliance on its output.
Where liability cannot be excluded, total liability related to the service is limited to the amount you paid for it during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. The service is currently free, so that amount is currently zero. Limitations apply only where enforceable.
These Terms may be updated to reflect product, legal, security, or operational changes. The revised version and date will be posted here. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.
